Maybe you can borrow an HMD from a friend or can buy one and get a return warranty to try it freely Well, there is a simple way to check, try it It still doesn't sound like something I'd want to do. The player is no longer an spectator, now the player is inside the game and can move freely with his own hands or head or make any movement. Since the point of view is your own eyes, you can move your head freely and play a pinball game as you would play in real life with your natural head movements. That is another part of the magic, you are not watching a screen that as a game. There is no screen at all, also your room has gone, because when you look around you, you are only going to see the room that is inside the game. You can play standing or seated, and you are going to see a real scale Pinball table in front of you, as real as in real life with true 3D depth, real scale, and you can move freely naturally. This is how you played pinball games all your life, even if the visuals are improved this was the standard paradigm in gaming: The player is an spectator of a game that happens inside a 2D Screen. You are stuck to predefined camera angles when playing Also the Pinball game will never be shown outside that 2D screen. Even if the content like in this case, is a Pinball table rendered in 3D in the end the medium you are using to watch it. you are sitting in your room, watching your monitor screen that is a flatscreen that renders a 2d animated image. I found that many players doesn't fully understand the concept, and generally those are the most mindblown away when they start playing VR and understand how amazing is gaming in VR. I'm a 'flow' player and Deluxe tables are a hard challenge at the best of times but I'm the type that is comfortable playing whatever is in front of them. It's important for those with limited knowledge something as technical as pinball will never please everyone all of the time - and I'm sure you will already recognise that fact. The bottom line is Zaccaria Pinball is a great game, with great developers in Magic Pixel. I like all the tables and don't mind what comes next, I haven't given it much thought but it's a great point for discussion. I wouldn't worry about not really getting into Deluxe tables, I'd just focus on what you like about the game and have fun with it.

Sticking to the remit of inherent technicality and packed full of features, objectives and toys, this particular section of the game was always going to get somewhat of a 'divided' response in terms of whether they are 'any good' or 'fun tables' or 'worth buying' to use some common phrases used by players. I could write an essay on this question, but to put things concisely the Deluxe tables were always going to be the most 'subjective' right from the get-go. For the most part I absolutely love the SS, EM, Retro and Remake tables and have put in almost 100 hours, it's just the Deluxe ones i'm struggling with. And i do quite enjoy the Strike table, despite it being aggressively pink for some reason! The aesthetic seems to work well on the Combat table too.Īnyhow, maybe i'm missing something? Are they better in VR? Just wondering what other folk think now that we're 11 tables in and there are potentially another 16 to come if they follow the same pattern as the Remake tables.Īnd apologies if this comes off a bit negative.

On the plus side i appreciate that each table is trying to add something new, like the couple meeting on the bridge in Farfalla Deluxe. The voice acting also seems a bit hit and miss and i tend to turn off the music and just play my own through the Steam player. They break up the flow and obscure the lower playfield and artwork, much of which which isn't to my taste either to be honest. To me the myriad raised bonus playfields aren't much fun. This is probably a "me issue" and I appreciate this is all totally subjective but i find the tables a bit overwhelming with so much going on. I've struggled to get into them to be honest. Just wondering what folk think of the Deluxe tables so far? Do you have any favourites? Which tables would you like to see "Deluxe" versions of next?
